I love travelling and sharing my experiences with you! I love to help in others journeys to be easier.
Thailand is a very popular destination to visit, mostly from November till May when there is winter in the northern hemisphere of the Globe. The weather in Thailand is always hot but in these few months it is close to 30 degrees Celsius and there are no monsoons. So when you want to quit from the winter and get to a hot zone where you can swim and be in shorts Thailand is a good fit for a hot journey.
It is very popular but as well as Thailand is far from Europe, the UK, or America so the first thing that comes to our minds is the price of the flight ticket as well as the flight duration.
You can feel from the introduction that I'd like to give you a financial insight about a trip to Thailand. I visited Thailand currently from Budapest, the heart of Europe so I have been enough far from Thailand to give you the best insight including flight tickets, hotels, small trips(to nearby islands, jungle tours, etc.), and daily expenses.
In total, you can get away for two weeks in Thailand for €1300 per person if you arrive from Europe while you are in a 3-star hotel. If you want to know how read on. These are my own experiences, so you are getting first-hand information. These prices can be skyrocketed to suit your needs.
Airfares to Thailand vary and are influenced by several factors, such as departure point, date, airline, and destination. For travel to Krabi, my experience has been that a return ticket from Budapest costs around €820 per person. However, prices for flights to Phuket or Bangkok can be higher as they are much more popular tourist destinations and therefore in much higher demand. For Phuket, ticket prices start from around EUR 1400. Changes in prices can also be affected by the date of travel, the date of booking, and current demand. It is therefore important to plan and take these factors into account to ensure that your trip is optimal and cost-effective as if you can get to Thailand for around €820, it is unnecessary to pay double that amount.
If you want to visit a very popular tourist attraction but at the lowest price, to get the most out of your money you should start by choosing a destination that is cheap to begin with. Once you have seen everything in the area, it is worth taking a boat or taxi to a very popular area.
I'll give you a concrete example. From Europe, you can arrive in Krabi town for ~410 euros, from where you can get to Ao Nang, one of the most popular beaches in Krabi province, 15km away. For €7 (by taxi) or €18 (by speed boat) you can go to Phuket and see the sights of Phuket.
After a few days or even a week, you can return to Krabi for €7 or €18 and take a flight from Krabi back to Europe also for ~410 euros. So we could admire two provinces of Thailand: a less touristy one, Krabi, and a very touristy one, Phuket for only ~€840 instead of 1400+.
Daily costs are relatively low in Thailand, but this can vary depending on how popular the province is among tourists. The more local you are, the cheaper everything is, but at 7Eleven the prices are pretty much the same all over Thailand. There are usually ATMs around these shops where you can withdraw cash with Revolut or any card at any time.
If you go on various trips to islands, jungle tours, and everything else you can afford, you can expect to pay around €200-300 per person per week. It is mainly the trips that will raise the prices and if you want to eat Western food, as it is considered exotic and harder to produce. If you eat local food and don't go on excursions, this price can be reduced to €100 per week.
Hotel prices can also vary quite a lot depending on how far away from the beach the accommodation is and how popular the beach is but in general we can say that hotel prices are very low in Thailand.
I specifically stayed at the Green View Village, which is relatively far from the beach but the hotel provides an hourly shuttle to and from the beach. They provide a very varied breakfast, but the lunch and the dinner are on your own the hotel has a restaurant until 16:00 where you can buy lunch for about 1.5 euros. The price of the hotel is around 250 euros for a week for two people with breakfast which I think is a very fair and cheap offer.
A Thailand trip is always exciting even if you were there. It is impossible to visit the all interesting parts of the country. They always hold secrets where you can travel. It is worth being informed about the best solutions to get there to save your money.
